Hotel Water Pump

May 3, 2012

We have new visitors…They have taken up residence in our front yard and besides they will not take up much space.  They didn’t ask for permission but they most  likely didn’t  think it was necessary. A neighbor calls them Mountain Chickadees..I was sitting outside on my favorite bench observing and listening to the sounds of morning… I spotted the bird perched on the water pump and then disappear into it. It came back out and flew off. It came back with a beak full of nesting material.

Welcome to Hotel Water Pump

If you come to visit, it might be a tight squeeze…

And don’t forget to bring your own bedding……

Amazing how they take up residenc in the pump and leave the birdhouse alone (unless it is occupied too?) 🙂

I love these old water pumps. Simpler times when we had to “work” for the water.
