It does not take much for me to be in what I call today my Element. It need not cost a great deal of money, I don’t need to be entertained or treated like royalty. In my element is where I observe the world around me whether in the woods on a dirt trail, gardening, in our car or on a train. I like to study people, I guess much like an artist has to in order to draw them. We went on an adventure this weekend, just for the day, and I was in my element. This little boy and his mother had ridden the Metrolink with us. They were on their way to the beach. I enjoyed watching his eager face and his child like actions like pressing his face against the glass window, squirming and eating.. He will be welcoming a baby sister or brother this month. His long blond wavy hair and cute face will forever be etched in my mind. Even though we had different destinations. we saw them later on as they got off the train.
San Clemente Pier
I am now an advocate of the rail system. They offer a weekend pass for ten dollars a ticket. That is an incentive for families that need to keep costs down for travel.
So great about your observations. People watching is so much fun. Hope you had a good time. Take care!

That’s great that you can get to San Clemente via Metro link. I have to admit I’ve never considered heading to the beach via the train. I always enjoy your adventures and observations.

This post reminded me of a book I read called ‘The Element’ – its all about finding that space where time disappears because you are so engrossed in whatever it is you are doing. It sounds very similar to the element you describe. What a great place to spend a whole day. 🙂 We should all try to do things that put us in our element more often!
