No More Rocking Chair Blues

September 12, 2012

One day I was lamenting over the fact that this little rocking chair had only been occupied by our cats. As a young mother I always loved rocking my babies, especially in the wee hours of the morning. So as I looked at the photo I decided to do some processing and came up with what I called Rocking Chair Blues.. Because we have not had a child around to test it out….until today.

I had a little visitor and she made herself at home taking books off the bookshelf and then discovered the chair which is now back to its normal color. Of course she came with her mother and we are all getting to know each other and it also gave me an opportunity to work on my photography skills.

Children and rocking chairs just seem to fit together.

Makes me miss that old rocking chair we used to have at our house when I was little. I kinda forgot about it for a bit. When I remembered it again, it was gone. I don’t even recall whether I asked the adults about it then. Now, I’m missing it again.

Or pretend it’s for my mum. Because I usually imagine old people (or little kids) sitting on one.

I think they are soothing for the soul, at any age… (:

That brings back so many memories. I graduated from a rocking chair to a rocking love seat so I could read to the older children while nursing the smallest babe. Now grandchildren share that love seat as they are read to. I love stopping by your blog each day.

I really like this. So beautiful and I am so glad you had an occupant for your treasured rocking chair. Though I am not a parent, I can relate in my own way. I work in the toddler room at a waldorf school and I do so love rocking the little ones to sleep. It warms my heart and fills me with gratitude in a way I had never even imagined. ๐Ÿ™‚
