I missed the challenge for last week. Too much activity and not enough time to settle down and be creative. So, for this Friday the challenge is to create an image using the prompt Connection or Connecting…I did not get to spend a lot of time on this one but am sharing what came to me.
I took this picture of these Jingle dancer’s at a Pow Wow. The link will tell you about how the dress is made. Each of the jingle’s is attached to the dress and therefore connected. The ladies also have a connection as they are competing with one another. For this image I used my photo and then two different textures provided at Pixel Dust Photo Art.
I made this postcard and sent it to a woman in Russia. She received it and acknowledged that she likes it. We have made a connection in that manner…
I have been shoveling snow throughout the day. I am hungry and ready for carbs.. Just about an hour ago I noticed a car slowing down and turned to see what they were looking at. It certainly was not the lady shoveling away and looking rather weak…Lol! They were looking at Rocky and family. I made a mad dash to get my camera out of the house and so they are a little blurry do to my shaky hand. Anyway, they appeared to be out to play in the white powdery snow. It was a very nice reward for my hard work..
We have spent a lot of time at the Veteran’s hospital this week. It has caught up with me and I noticed that I was feeling a bit edgey yesterday. My husband will need surgery on his foot on Tuesday. He already has had a knee replacement in the same leg. He is very stoic and never complains despite the pain he is in most days. While in the area of the VA hospital we squeezed in time to drop off a violin that we had purchased on one of our trips north a few years ago. We think we picked it up in Washington. Mr. G. has a very good friend that has lived next door to a violin maker/repairer for years. When I was young I loved the violin and would daydream about lessons. It never came to be but I never lost my interest in music. I had a teacher that introduced our class to classical music in elementary school. I loved listening to the Moonlight Sonata, Nutcracker Suite, Grand Canyon Suite, and much more. I also developed an interest in Bluegrass music as well.
Mr. Rees with my violin. He, I must say is fit as a fiddle for a 92 year older man who continues to hike when he can.
One of his projects
Mr. Rees said he had never seen an attachment like this before. He gave us a little tour of his home and we met his lovely wife. Each of their family members are musicians and besides his talent in the field of making violins, he is also a gifted artist. Meeting him gives me continued hope as a very late bloomer that I still have time to fiddle around..
This image is one of my all time favorites. Several of you, my wordpress friends have seen this a few times. Today I am thinking about helpmates. We have had a lot of activity here in the Southern, California area. A bus that crashed a few weeks ago, lots of snow and then the hunt for Christopher Dorner. A neighbor, her child and I were down the hill when they located him in a cabin not too terribly far from where we live. Although a stressful day we were thrilled to finally get the ok to head home later that evening. Yesterday, we found out that my helpmate Mr. G fractured his tibia in his already not strong leg. He is hobbling along until he is notified what the next course of action will be. So, as I observe this image I recall these elderly people who caught my eye. All three were needing a little assistance from a cane or umbrella. Here I am, not quite sixty-four yet, but I am helping assist with the putting on of socks, bandages etc. I am certainly not complaining as that is the role of wife, caregiver etc. For you single folks, your time will come if you are looking for Love. Make sure it is not in the wrong places..lol! It all starts in the heart anyway. There are many ways to help out and when serving others it is a warm contented feeling. Enjoy your day!
The challenge for the week was to create an Abstract Photo Art image. As of this morning we again are having another snowfall experience. My images depict where my thoughts were while I worked on my photo art. I was thinking about Spring.
This was the lovely texture that we were to use, Dropped Petals. I simply used a couple of my photos of flowers and applied the texture and fiddled with the pixelate application and tweaked until I was satisfied with the color of the images. This was done at Picasa 3.
In support of Groundhog’s that are responsible for determining whether the weather will be cooperative or not, I am posting, Me and My Shadow along with Ailsa and others at Where’s My Back Pack?
