Drooling

May 29, 2013

I make a point of not coveting what another person has…but when I see one of these my heart just goes pitter-patter

DSCN7756I hope they don’t see the drool on my chin

Maybe I can get a ride around the block

But instead, I will have to settle for the joy of seeing what takes me back to memories of my first car in the sixties..

In the late 60’s I was single and lived for a time with a room mate originally from Germany who worked in Phoenix for Lufthansa airlines. Each year he would go back to Germany and spend his vacation with his mother and return with a brand new bug. He got a special price on them. I loved those cars!

Me too…they have a special place in my heart. There was a time when my mother, sister and I all had one. (: Those were the days.. Someone taught me to double clutch and can’t tell you why or how..lol! But I would love to drive up a mountain road and just putt up and putt down…

pre 1969…I can tell because of the bumper…ours was blue, 1969 with the “new” bumper…think I like the old bumper better. xo

I’d be happy with a 69′.. Although I do like the older bumper too..

P.S. our son wrecked it in 1992 and when they hauled it away it still had rice in the back seat floor from our wedding!!

You just reminded me about an older man that hit me..It was not serious..Just gave it more character..I think!

Mine was that deep forest green… c. 1968, I think. Maybe slightly earlier. I named it Mephistopheles, because it was a devil of a car. 😉

Oh, girl! Don’t even go there with me! I LOVE LOVE LOVE old VW bugs, new VW bugs, convertibles, hardtops, black, white, red, purple, Pa-leese!!! I have a 2003 black convertible bug that I wouldn’t trade for all the tea in China. I just went to a car show and saw the most adorable sea green 69 bug. My first was a ’65, then a VW bus, then a ’61 bug, then a Karman Ghia. Well, you get my drift. I’m totally with you!

Nice photos. I hope we have some sun this weekend so I can drag my ’55 VW Beetle out for a local classic-car show on Sunday!
