We are road weary and this picture depicts my vision at this point. Our youngest cat thought she had to serenade me while on our road trip. Riley toned it down today. I asked for angel pockets, protection, and am thankful to only be about two hundred miles from our destination, and also safe and sound. Twenty-four years ago today, I gave birth to a baby girl. Happy Birthday to you…young lady! After being surrounded by huge pine and cedar trees for almost two years, I am liking the wide open spaces….
I don’t know what moonshine looks like but this homemade concoction is Vanilla. Thanks to Melanie at Love Library, she shared the recipe to make it. Buying two vanilla at a time is not the way to go and better to go online and buy in bulk. It will be a while before it can be used. I look forward to using it. We are all packed up and ready to hit the road tomorrow. Oregon, here we come, four cats and all. Here are a few recaps of late.
We have been packing and filling up a container that was delivered on Monday. My attire is the same each day, nothing fancy, just layers for warmth. In this kind of weather my hair can get kind of wild-looking. The dampness sends a message to each strand and says it’s time to party. I will miss the expertise of the proprietor of this salon. He is an artist and knows how to tame my hair. For right now I am forgoing the thought of trying to look nice. I don’t, and that is the truth. Moving always entails making a huge mess. The mess is a bit toned down now. Just odds and ends and then to tackle the cleaning, so that it will shine for the new occupant. For today, I will keep a song in my heart and again muster up energy to continue, as we will soon be on our way..
I am preparing to mail Christmas cards to seven inmates. As I do this, I think about how easy it is to exclude people from our lives, due to formed past opinions of them. Disappointment, hurt, unforgiveness. At this time of year there are some that won’t hear from family members because of this. As I ponder, I think about whom have I said to “there is no room for you at the Inn of my heart.” It happens…As I check my heart today, I want it to be said…she invited me..
life began in a manger
He was no stranger
to the less affluent
He wore no bling
it was not His thing
but He brought hope to all
to the outcasts
to the broke
love and compassion
were His guide
with mercy and grace by His side
gentle and not mean
He is the answer to my dreams..
Music speaks to many. It brings people together. It can soothe or it can irritate. Depends on what you like. I discovered the piano music of Doug Smith several years ago. The combination of great photography and his music makes a great video. Enjoy!
Having lived in our location for almost two years I have grown to appreciate the unique style of houses. They all have their individual look and it’s fun to pay attention to those that stand out in their uniqueness. Just like people..We all have different talents, abilities and features. Some of us lack in stature…me…but I have a big heart.. (: Some houses are big and roomy, some are small and compact…me again, and then some houses are warm and inviting. I tend to look for charm and on the vintage side. But, to have a roof over our head is a blessing. We make it homey by adding our own special touch…no matter what it is made of. Once upon a time we lived in a tent for a few months. We were fine with it, until the squirrels decided that we were very nice people. They thought, we wouldn’t mind if they invited themselves in, while we were away one afternoon. We are again looking to relocate, and so the quest begins again. Cabin or cottage charmer, we are looking..
