The Day the World Stood Still

February 8, 2014

I chuckle now as I observe what looks like we are in a 2014 ice age. Be careful with what you wish for..lol!

The good news is that won’t hurt the trees and shrubs – as long as branches don’t start falling on cars! In fact, there have been times we’ve been advised in freezing emergencies (e.g., it shows up unexpectedly and some plants haven’t been protected) to hose them down and put a coating of ice on them. I just haul mine indoors.

It’s a beautiful photo – how long is this supposed to hang around?

We heard that there is supposed to be a freezing rain today. I am not familiar with that. We went for a drive and saw some big branches on the ground. They don’t trim back trees or branches around here and the power lines intermingle with them. It should be in the fifties next week. We will see..

The ice makes for beautiful scenery but terrible conditions on the roads. I don’t like ice storms. I love snow–not ice. Stay safe and stay warm. 🙂

Oh my that is amazing. Ice is so much harder to deal with than snow…

It’s amazing how ice has completely covered the branches. Your title of this entry is really fitting. Beautiful shots!

Wow! We had ice like that a couple of weeks ago. It’s so amazing to see but oh so treacherous to get around in. Hoping you are safe & warm.

Hi Ida! We are pretty much homebodies, since we are no longer working. My heart goes out to all that have to encounter and be concerned about the weather.. Thank you!
