This brings back memories of my son’s skateboarding days. Where we lived they did not have access to nice paved streets. What stands out, were  their Van shoes, that would wear out and they would tape them with all-purpose ..Duct Tape..

Skateboards were past my prime and (fortunately!) my now 38-year-old son never became enamored of them. I am reminded though of the strap-on roller skates (sing it Melanie! — where we used a key) and tearing up our unfinished basement floor and swinging around the ceiling support two x four in the middle of the room. There was a door that led outside and it was often just left open. Barn swallows nested in the ceiling rafters and always scared me to death as they swooped in and out while us girls were trying to play!

I had those strap on skates too. I enjoyed roller skating and later got to experience ice skating..You have some fun memories!

Duct tape! So handy for so many problems!

I remember doing this when I was about 14 I think. Later – much later – I tried again. Not so good. I stopped myself when I crashed into a parked car. Hey! So I didn’t perfect the brakes!
    Thanks for the memories. 🙂

Skate boards were long after my time. I’m of the roller skate generation, myself. I used to get really irritated at the kids who would skate on the wooden deck outside my apartment. Then, it occurred to me that the skateboarders are the only kids I know who aren’t constantly hunched over an electronic device, and I became a great skateboard advocate!

Neat shot, it has a wonderful nostalgic feel to it. I never tried skateboarding and I wasn’t great with Roller Skates either. In fact I just wasn’t an athletic type person at all.

I didn’t try either. Maybe just stood on one. I did roller skate and loved to bike ride but I am not athletic but admire those that are. Thanks Ida!
