Passengers and Something New

April 18, 2015

DSCN5178We purchased some bee’s today. I stayed calm all of the way home. The store Glory Bee in Eugene, Oregon was interesting. It had everything you would ever want for beekeeping as well as all sorts of gadgets and goodies. We will have to go back when we don’t have bees waiting on us. I am doing a new thing at The Soul Lane, a photo only blog. Thanks so much! Just remember to Bee Happy!

Now, I am confused. Are you really a beekeeper? I don’t know anything about it. Sounds exciting… 😉

Hi Helen! We are now. We went to pick up two hives and had them in our car. Some were getting out one of the boxes. So I had to remain calm and not get exited. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I have heard that they can tell that you are! My husband has had some experience with them when he worked with a man that had a business. We can tell that they are relaxed now, hours later and it’s nice to see that.

I felt so bad for the mishap.. Hopefully the bees survived. We had bees in our car on their way to a new destination.. they were a box but still able to get out.. They are looking more relaxed now after being relocated..I had to remain peaceful…lol!

My mother used to talk about the hives her grandfather had. She said keeping them wasn’t hard, it just required a lot of knowledge about what they like, don’t like, and so on. I certainly would want to get it right!

Here’s a pic of some swarming bees that decided to rest for a while on some boat canvas in a marina I was working in. It’s pretty amazing. And here’s a tip: never, ever leave an open can of soft drink around bees. If you want a Coke while you’re outside, drink from a bottle that has a cap that can be replaced. Take it from someone who once drank a bee that had landed in a Coke can. Thank goodness I didn’t swallow! I was stung on the lip, but I felt the furriness and spit it out before it could do any more damage.

That’s a very good tip! Thank you.. The Bee’s look like they are situated. My husband has worked with a few bee keeper’s. It was interesting to see all of the people picking up their bees yesterday. His brother has taken an interest in bee keeping in CA. They will be able to share knowledge and experiences too.

A new adventure? We’ve seen bees for sale around here a few weeks back.
