A few months ago we started feeding the birds. This is what we are using, until we can find something more suitable. So far no complaints. It has been a crazy day of rain, wind, some sunshine and now more wind. I have had a great time observing the birds in our backyard.
I have no idea what these birds are. If there is someone that can identify them for me, I’d really appreciate the information.
In Other Words and Pictures 
Look at photos of the black-headed grosbeak for the first. The third photo shows a red-winged blackbird, and I think the last one is a wren. If its tail tips up, that’s a good sign.

WONDERFUL photographs, and beautiful birds! Your top photo even has a bird at the moment of take off.. I’ve tried SO hard to capture that (and so far for all my efforts… failed!) Well done, it’s a wonderful picture…

The last one appears to be a Song Sparrow, the central breast spot is the key. A House Finch is the small bird in the first photo. The second bird is a juvenile–somebody’s baby. 😉 I LOVE your repurposed-scale feeder!

I have had such a grand time bird watching. And the singing is music to my ears. We have had doves, humming birds, blue jays and one day a crow stopped for a quick bite to eat and a few other ones that I am not familiar with. Thank you for the info…The scale has come in handy. Do you use different kinds of bird feeders? What works best for you?

Hello! What a nice surprise. I truly appreciate your thoughts about my
blog. Lately I have thought about what I would like to do different here, but like it is said by Lewis Carroll, the hurrier I go the behinder I get.. lol! I accept this award with gratitude. I recall how I started and what a very big step it was for me to do at the time. The first is a Red-winged Blackbird, female. The 2nd is a Red-winged Blackbird, male. The 3rd is probably a Song Sparrow like one of your other commenters said. Some of the sparrow species are really hard to tell apart but it looks good for Song Sparrow.

Oops, I didn’t see the very first photo until now. Yes, Black-headed Grosbeaks in the 1st. Red-winged Blackbird female for the 2nd. Red-winged Blackbird male for the 3rd. And Song Sparrow for the 4th.
