February 27th

This morning I awoke to snow and to the new age of 68. A portion of a devotional from Charles Spurgeon spoke to my heart. It read The Christian knows no change with regard to God. He may be rich today and poor to-morrow; he may sickly today and well to-morrow; he may be in happiness today, to-morrow he may be distressed- but there is no change with regard to his relationship to God. If he loved me yesterday, he loves me today. My unmoving mansion of rest is my blessed Lord. Let prospects be blighted; let hopes be blasted; let joy be withered; let mildews destroy everything; I have lost nothing of what I have in God. HE is my strong habitation whereunto I can continually resort. I am a pilgrim in the world, but at home my in my God. In earth I wander, but in God I dwell in quiet habitation.

Thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.

Psalm 91:9

This boggles my mind. How a guy we watched, back up his car, do this, I don’t know. But I receive this simple gift from my maker, as a reminder of His love.

This scenic place is not far from where we live. It is called Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey. Monks reside here and they use it for retreats and it’s open to visitors to hike a few different trails. They also have a nice little bookstore.  Since we finally got a decent snowfall two days ago, we ventured out and away from our cozy home, so I could get snow photos.

  2. Happy birthday to you! You certainly had a beautiful day to be out and about — I know you enjoyed it. I’ve been staring at the hearts in the snow, trying to figure out how they were made. Since I can’t, I’ll just enjoy them — what a wonderful token of love.

  3. Blessings for your birthday! Spurgeon’s devotionals are always right on the mark, aren’t they? Those hearts??? I can’t figure it out either, but what a wonderful visible token of God’s love for you. I just marvel when He gives us those little visible signs!

  4. Wow, I love that first scenery photo. Snow can be beautiful when first falls. I’m so ready for Spring and warmth although we really haven’t had the normal snowfall, but too much rain. I would have enjoyed seeing that trick with the car hearts. Would never have thought to do that. 🙂

    1. Hi Peabea! Thanks so much.. We moved from one quirky place to another in December. It rains much more and is colder. The benefit is that we are so much closer to many locations that took us too long to get there. I tend to be cold all of the time. Hands and feet and if the wind blows I need a scarf. Yesterday we went to the coast and it was a beautiful sunny day.. The warmth felt so good. Hold on spring is coming.. xx
