Summer Special: Relearning How to Laugh

When did life get so serious?

Yesterday afternoon, I began to think about laughter. I realized that I have not had a good hearty dose of it lately. I laugh at myself often, but it is not one of those deep belly laughs, that might almost bring moisture to my eyes. As I pondered on this, I thought about the comedians of this generation. I admit, I am old school and that happens when you are born in the fifties. Maybe not for all.. Because of this thinking, I ran through a list of those that made me chuckle from past years.  Some would be considered corny, in this day and age. At this moment, I am thinking about Carol Burnett and her sidekick, Vicki Lawrence. I don’t find humor in much of what is promoted these days. Sigh…

  1. Awe!! I LOVE a good belly laugh and the laughs that bring tears to your eyes!! Carol Burnett is DEFINITELY one of my favorites, oh my, her show was a hoot! And there is many more, but your are right. I’m turning off the news more and more each day. It’s all way too serious and I understand why but we all have to smile and giggle every once in awhile! Good for the soul! 🤣🤣🤣

  2. Yes, yes, yes! We need more laughter – good old fashioned humor. The so-called comedy of today’s world I find mean-spirited, crass, and crude. Not funny. Of course, I too was born in the 50’s and grew up with Carol Burnett, Red Skelton, etc. They may have been corny but they provided good belly laughs!

  3. I was thinking Red Skelton but Carol Burnett is also a good choice. Lucile Ball would also be another comedian from the golden age. Lisa and I have gotten some good eye tearing laughs from Whose Line Is It Anyways.
