hike

Feeling Like John Muir

We have been trying to get out at least once a week to walk. It usually turns into a hike and we have challenged ourselves a bit. Along the way I may want to stop and turn around but we keep trucking along and when we do finish we feel pretty good about the distance we covered. We are trying to get away from being couch potatos and my husband and I always enjoy ourselves once we get out the door. Today we went back to the Loch Leven conference center trail. We set our minds on going further than we had the last time. With the sun out, and clear blue skies and turkey sandwiches for lunch we hit the trail. I have many photos I will eventually share but for now I will post a few…We followed a trail for about two miles and then decided to drop down and get closer to the creek. Once we did, it had that forest feel to it.The floor of the forest was blanketed with leaves.

Getting out like this makes me feel somewhat like an explorer. I thought about John Muir and all of his discoveries throughout California and I believe Alaska. I love the shimmer of the water and the reflection of the trees and brush. My husband was quick to spot some trout. We saw ladybugs, a few mushrooms one sulphur butterfly and some items that were way out of place that I will share later. All in all it a nice outing until I slipped on a rock and got my boots  wet but I was fine and look forward to our next adventure.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul alike..John Muir
