DEAR GOD

This little thank-you note

is an expression of joy,

for which I thank you.

And I thank you for the rainbow

known as hope. I even thank you

for the bad years that increase

my gratitude for the good years,

and for teaching me to bear

the unbearable-to forgive

those who knew not what they did,

what can I do but thank you?

And for an interesting life–

for love, redemptive love,

thank you, thank you, thank you!

God you know my name.
