Inspired

After visiting the blog, Alice and Molly, I was inspired to tackle a small creative project. I am one to buy fabric and have good intentions, but I lose my enthusiasm easily. This seemed to be simple enough and I had fabric that I thought would work well together. Here is my completed pennant banner.

I think that the bobbin on my sewing machine is not threaded right and it was affecting my sewing, so I went with sewing by hand. I know what I would do differently next time.

While working on this I kept whistling the song, His Banner Over Me.. I bet you didn’t know that I like to whistle..Lol!

Let’s Finnish This Up

I am lagging behind on posting recent photos. I have a few new projects going and as I have shared in the past, I do not multitask well. So, for those of you that enjoyed my post on Sweaters in Waiting, I will finish the tour I went on after I got the ok to take pictures. The store is called the Stitchin’ Post in Sisters, Oregon. For you quilt enthusiasts, they will celebrate their fortieth year of hosting a quilt show this summer. From what I have heard and read they hang quilts throughout the town for display and offer workshops and demonstrations for the public. Jeans Wells, who is owner of the store along with her daughter, was in the December issue of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

DSCN1430In my entire life I have never done more than sew squares together. I am really living in the dark ages, because the things quilters do is totally inspirational.

DSCN1435DSCN1436DSCN1462DSCN1460DSCN1461DSCN1447Well, that didn’t take long and you should not be tired from the brief tour of this well stocked store. I am pretty sure it has what you need for  your creative sewing and knitting projects..

Sweaters in Waiting

I consider going to  a fabric store to be on my top ten to do list. I love how  the warmth of  the different kinds of fabric, the yarn and all of the notions call out to me. It all kind of gets my creative juices flowing to want to tap in to different creative endeavors. In my quiet time I have been thinking a lot about our first years experience here in Oregon. I appreciate the vastness of the forest, the many bodies of water, the green fields, the rustic barns and the animals. There are areas that I need divine intervention and it’s in God’s presence that I find what I need.. His direction, His comfort, His wisdom and much more. The word reluctant came to me this morning. In my years I have been reluctant to do a lot of things. Mainly out of fear of failure. So it was like, why even bother trying. So from this Hen, don’t be reluctant. Don’t let the years of your youth and life in general slip away as you sit on the fence. Hop off! I wrote a short poem on this a few years ago and will have to locate it. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate, just do it…And make that sweater…lol! The store I visited is called the Stitchin’ Post  in Sisters, Oregon. I will share some tales about this fantastic place in another post…
