I have been experimenting lately, using props for still life. I am trying to use what I have on hand. I like small items, vintage, and just cute things. Participating in Kim Klassen’s Be Still 52, is helping me to make new discoveries about my camera. I have not ever been one to be studious and so I have not studied my user’s manual. It is about time. Penny is a character out of the movie The Toy Story. Somehow this little girl toy ended up with me. I like that she is a cowgirl and so this is what I came up with today. I have not arrived but am making a little progress, but because I like whimsical I thought that these images are cute. I have a few books about Dale Evan’s and Roy, so I included them as I practiced.
I am participating in a year-long online course on Still Life, that Kim Klassen is host to. It is taking me out of my comfort zone in some ways as I have to stop and think about what I am photographing. I tend to gravitate towards anything vintage, so there was a reason for me to hang onto old stuff that I have carried around for years. Kim suggests that we be the patient with ourselves and to work towards mastering calmness into our day. Well those are my words but it is what she is implying in Be Still 52. My first texture for 2015.
A little flower power for all of you today.. As I searched my files I had a few ideas and was looking for something to jump out at me. I settled for the bouquet of Carnations that were in the guest bedroom. I love playing with the processing and really like when I get that vintage look. As we approach the change of year, I am pondering and thinking of what is important to me for this new year. For a starter I want to be in the moment and not think I need stuff to keep me full and happy. I want to wake up each morning and say “thank you,” for a new day to experience, to see, to listen, to be still, to learn things I haven’t learned yet, and to hear clearly the words.. this is the way.. May the New Year bring peaceful experiences and contentment and much more to this world. A Happy and Blessed New Year to you, my friends!

To extend this special moment, just a bit longer…

It’s Simple Things for today’s Texture Tuesday. Bikes are one of my all time favorites to photograph, among many other things. It’s a wonderful mode of transportation and a fun and healthy activity for families and individuals.
It’s time for another Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen. On our way North, I spotted this Hydrangea, as I walked around a small town. I am calling it Octoberfest.
I am linking with Texture Tuesday. It is another Free and Easy challenge. They are fun! Since my focus continues to be sky watching, birds, color and clouds, I thought I’d continue with the trend. Psalm 91 is one of my favorite and I think it worked out nicely here. Thank you Kim for offering us opportunities to expand our horizons through all that you offer.
I am linking with Texture Tuesday. I don’t have a lot of experience growing flowers from seed. So far I have had success with Sunflowers and Zinnia’s. They may be the easiest to grow. Lol! I have usually always purchased the flowers and then planted. Not all of them would last, especially the Gerber’s. Although, I do have some Viola’s that are still looking good, despite the heat of summer. I was not sure which image I preferred, so I am including both images for today’s theme of Free and Easy.
