something to think about

Sunday Soul Search

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on it’s own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

This morning I awoke to snow and to the new age of 68. A portion of a devotional from Charles Spurgeon spoke to my heart. It read The Christian knows no change with regard to God. He may be rich today and poor to-morrow; he may be sickly today and well to-morrow; he may be in happiness today, to-morrow he may be distressed- but there is no change with regard to his relationship to God. If he loved me yesterday, he loves me today. My unmoving mansion of rest is my blessed Lord. Let prospects be blighted; let hopes be blasted; let joy be withered; let mildews destroy everything; I have lost nothing of what I have in God. HE is my strong habitation whereunto I can continually resort. I am a pilgrim in the world, but at home in my God. In earth I wander, but in God I dwell in quiet habitation.

Thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.

Psalm 91:9

This boggles my mind. How a guy we watched, back up his car, do this, I don’t know. But I receive this simple gift from my maker, as a reminder of His love.

This scenic place is not far from where we live. It is called Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey. Monks reside here and they use it for retreats and it’s open to visitors to hike a few different trails. They also have a nice little bookstore.  Since we finally got a decent snowfall two days ago, we ventured out and away from our cozy home, so I could get snow photos.
