Anxiety

photo(22)

I am feeling a little anxious..Smokey is locked up in our neighbors garage. We called out to the kittens/cats this morning and only one responded. Kind of strange since we had seen them the day before when they came to eat. After calling Smokey’s name several times he made an appearance in the garage window. We had to locate someone with our neighbors phone number, he left last night. So we know where Smokey is and hopefully the other two are with him..

She Is Missing

IMG_4492It was quite unusual for Lizzy to be outdoors sitting on my husband’s lap yesterday morning. She loves him, but she does not venture out often. First of all I sometimes think she is scared of her own shadow and second of all her first experience outside when we moved was traumatic. She was chased by a feral cat and ended up with a wound on her bottom. I am sad to say that because we thought it would be a good idea to brush her fur, she freaked out and ran from our home. My husband tried to follow her but she kept running.. IMG_4431Lizzy Lou..

Lizzy is a lap cat and very sweet one on one but she has no tolerance for Riley who is just over a year. I would have to get on her case often because she would try to beat her up. So, I think if she can remember to continue terrorizing Riley, hopefully she can find her way home…if she can stay away from the wild cats…

Meet Our Cats

Cats are very much a part of our lives. It all started with the rescue of one and even though we only have  four there have always been opportunities to adopt more. I think four is my limit..Yesterday my husband took our youngest addition to be spayed. He met a woman who had taken in twelve. She apparently has devoted her life to the rescue and care of cats.

Lizzy looks very demure and not like a bully but if you turn your back and has the chance she will attack Riley. I must admit that she is photogenic.. But I am not always happy with her behavior. ):

Ally is the smartest of the four. We can trust her to be outside with our supervision. When we call her name she will come to us and we think she is amazing..

This is old Hey You. She was rescued at a trailer park in 2002. My husband named her so I made the decision to give the cats their middle names. Lizzy is Lizzy Lou, Ally is Ally Tou and Riley is Riley Sou.. Oh my such originality.. I am laughing at myself…

Here is Riley in her newly painted blue bedroom. I told her that she can have her own room. Lol!  This is a photo from last week. These are our silent furry friends that keep us company. They have their moments but are devoted and don’t complain. I wrote the following poem in 2010. I must have been feeling overwhelmed or maybe just inspired.

Cats

cats are raining all around

from the sky

to the ground

everyday there are more

i can’t even get through the door

life has come to have no meaning

all i hear are cats that are screaming

maybe it’s time to climb a mountain

cause hiking cats,

just won’t happen..

Tree Hugger

We have thoroughly enjoyed watching Riley grow into an active, sometimes crazy and sometimes wild kitten… She gets to go outside, only with supervision. Riley runs around the yard with the speed of a bullet, chasing whatever may be flying in the air or climbing the walls of the house.

If I am not quick with the camera I will miss out on capturing her escapades….

She is the only one out of four cats to attempt this…

Who is the prettiest?

Ally is not longer permitted this close to the water-pump..since she has discovered that birds reside in it..

Slowly but surely we continue to settle in. We are taking more time to explore our newer surroundings.

Creature of Comfort

Meet Lizzy…She’s a sweet cat…

She is a pensive cat…

She has taught me…about unconditional love..about breaking down barriers in ones heart. She is about love and comfort and just being her quiet little-self. Sometimes very afraid of strangers and noises. But as long as she has a comfy place on the bed or a blanket I know that she is secure…. We can learn a lot from animals. Thank you Lizzy for teaching me….
