Weekly Photo Challenge: Cover Art

The mother hen in me is usually paying attention to the younger generation. Sometimes my feathers get ruffled by what I see and hear. But, I am often inspired by them as well. I was a timid individual for many years, so when I talk to and hear about their plans to take on a challenge of going across country or hiking, or tackling college for many years, I am impressed by their determination. Here is my take on cover art for a book or album. The song that came to mind for this challenge was Footloose by Kenny Loggins. I will add my own two cents and call it Footloose and Fancy Free. I pulled it out of my archives from a time we were on our way to Washington. I can see this young couple driving across the US looking for the next big wave, Footloose and Fancy Free.

  1. I too look at the young sometimes and just shake my head, but so agree on what advantages and opportunities that are afforded them in today’s world vs the 50’s and 60’s that I grew up in. I would have loved to have been a youth in today’s world of opportunities for college, etc. In my day, it seemed only the advantaged could afford it, and I knew it would never be in my world of a single mom raising three girls. It has been so fun watching my own grown children and the things they’ve taken on and the places they’ve not been afraid to travel and enjoy. Love, love your photo for cover art. Very nice. 🙂

    1. Hi Patricia, I guess I shake my head often too and have to wonder what makes them tick.. A higher education wasn’t a consideration when I was growing up.I wasn’t studious although I did consider wanting to be a nurse. I lacked support and confidence. Like you I hear about some of the events in the lives of my children flying here and there and it makes me feel very sheltered… Always so nice to talk to you..

  2. Love it, Footloose and Fancifree. If I could go back in time that looks like it will be a fun trp, would love it. My days of growing up we’re going to school, taking care of siblings, learning to cook and sew, I do not remember doing much else including going to college, the most I remember in fun was playing ball in the fields. Growing up on a ranch, required lots of work n little play. A good life nevertheless. Just maybe not as exciting as some.
