Am I There Yet

Mother Hen

DSCN5100Roto-tiller man is down and out of commission as far as doing anything strenuous with his arms. I am  left to my own devices. Last spring he worked the ground, back and forth, dug out rocks, cut out roots and did a number on berry vines. After all of that hard work we did not do anything else to the good earth. We had thoughts of sowing seed for grass and also purchasing railroad ties, but that was as far as it got.

DSCN5096I did manage to fill the wheelbarrow and plant this apple tree, but I really do not have a good laid out plan of attack. The cats love the wild and out of control look and the weeds don’t bug them at all.

DSC_0020For now I plant flowers that give me a quick fix of satisfaction and joy and remind me that there is Hope and I will eventually get to where I am going..

  5. Ellen is right, yards are tons of work. I look at my new garden space we made last fall and think..oh my goodness, what have I done? It used to be FILLED with two bush trees and perennials (kept the weeds down)….Vegetable and fruit garden is good, and it will be good for me to work on it. Mind, body and soul♥

      1. I almost started to have a panic attack looking at the picture of it Mother Hen..♥ I keep reminding myself when I’m out there doing my little bit at a time..’calm down, enjoy what your doing, don’t look at everything that has to get done, just work on the bit your doing♥ It helps me..lol

  6. Pretty flowers! It’s hard to get everything done. Each year we seem to take one small step closer to where we want to be. Our neighbors removed a large oak tree, which changed the environment in our backyard. We’d planted shade-loving rhododendron under it, then lost them–so now we’re starting over with plants that like full sun. 🙂

  7. At least our front yard is under control. We have rhododendron’s that we will get to see flower.. Yards can always be a work in progress..but for us it’s fun and therapeutic, most of the time. Happy gardening!

  11. The yellow and purple is so lovely. Are those a variety of pansy? We have pansies galore around here, but they’re not so fancy, with those ruffled edges.

    As long as you’re enjoying the work, and the results, it doesn’t matter a flip what other people think of it. I have a friend who finally stopped reading magazines like “Southern Living,” because she’d look at the gardens they showed and get depressed. Comparison’s not always good for the soul!

    1. Those frilly girls are called Frizzle Frazzles. We learned about them last spring when we worked with a young lady that had a nursery. My main concern are the thistles and the berry vines that can be a nuisance..
