inspiration

Inspiration Inspires

In the world of blogging and following,it is not hard to become inspired by what I read and see. I applaud all of you and say thank you! Inspiration comes in all forms, from nature, artists, musicians, writer’s etc. A few ladies that I follow have shared their interests in making collages either with material, words and photos. Now that I have time to explore and create, I am sharing my latest attempt in making a collage. I have not done this before  for myself and I must say that it was  fun! I have met two ladies in our neighborhood that are artist and when I visited them, they both had collages displayed in their art rooms. Since  I had a stack of older magazines I started tearing out pages, bought poster-board and off I went..

We stopped by a junk store recently and I came across pieces of fabric that had been sewn together. It looked like someone had been inspired to make a quilt.

I am not sure what I’ll do with these but I am inspired..

Now that this Featherweight is in great running condition, I’m sure I’ll come up with something..

mosaic monday

Mosaic Monday

Spring-fever has been long gone but I feel a little fall-fever coming on.Maybe it’s just wishful thinking…  I am  anxious to feel coolness in the air to bring relief from our intense hot southern California  weather. Going to a nursery always makes me feel better. We drove to Big Bear recently one afternoon and our highlight was this wonderful nursery, Hunter’s Nursery and Garden Center. What fun I had as you can see by my photos..I am linking with Mary, at Dear Little Red House

Welcome to Hunters

Now this will take care of whatever ails you..Enjoy!

children

Beauty Pageant Insanity

This morning I have been observing and of course taking photos of our Coral Bells that are blooming. They are pretty and delicate looking. Each little flower makes me think of the innocency of childhood.  I often relate the beauty of flowers to children. It may just be a grandma thing…But observing the soft pinks and whites makes me think of the sweetness of babies and children. This variety is called Cinnabar Silver. The long stem and cluster of tiny, bell-like blooms is striking in appearance to me.

My original thoughts this morning have been on what I consider the exploitation of children on television. It  revolves around child beauty pageants. What may have at one time been based on the fun of a child winning a blue ribbon, has gone way too far. Out of curiosity I have watched the  show which depicts the behaviors of mom’s gone overboard. It’s my opinion..I just want to see children not miss out on childhood fun, like playing with dolls, roller skating, riding bikes, playing board games, painting, coloring, jumping ropes, camping, going to the zoo and being able to observe our world of color and beauty..and having the freedom to bloom in their time, in their own child-like way.

flash flood

Flash Flood…

This is my first experience with a flash flood… in this  area. It started with me hearing a roar or sound as though a large vehicle was parked outside. The last time I heard it a few days ago I was clueless but not this time.. I must admit it shook me to the core but I ran across the street to capture the photos and video taped as well. My concern is for neighbors and I would hope that there were no hikers today… Just as I write  tractors have gone by and just heard a siren whiz by..

windmills

Windmills on My Mind

There are plenty of these windmills to be seen as we head towards the desert

I remember not liking them when I was younger. They seemed like such an intrusion to the open desert.

Now we accept these wind powered windmills just as we accept cell phone towers made to look like trees.

To go along with my thoughts today I am sharing the song of Windmills of Your Mind..Two different versions. In French and English

summer

Shades of Summer

We have had a mixture of wind, fire and rain in just four days. There was also a flash-flood in a creek not too far away. Smoke jumpers were dropped off or rather parachuted out of a plane on Saturday. Several fires were ignited from the lightning  but none were a threat. Yesterday was a cool seventy-three and today it jumped to eighty-five. The blue in the sky has been bright, the vegetation is a combination of green, yellow, rust and brown. It’s  all a palette of summer color.

The beauty of clouds

And some of these..

Will be cleaned up and put in a fruit salad tonight..

Mmm…berry good!

rain

Getting Hammered..

Ok, I was griping a bit about the heat and so the heaven’s opened up big time and now the rain is pouring down and looks like flooding in the street and the crack of thunder has made me jump.. Complaining is not the way to go. I can tell that people are leaving the picnic grounds in a hurry and my concern at the moment is for flooding and just when I think the Thunder is loud, it just let me know that, that was nothing…reporting from Forest Falls, Ca…Lol!

deer

Who Turned Up the Heat

Yesterday afternoon we decided to run an errand and as we were driving by the creek we spotted a deer. We pulled off the side of the  road and I took a few pictures. You might have to look really close to see them. Altogether there may have been at least five deer cooling down in the water. The terrain is so very dry that I don’t think the snakes like the heat either.

Aware of our presence..

Dry, dry, dry…

As I write this the sky is rumbling and hopefully there will be a downpour today and cool us all off…
