Exchanging Roots for Wings

The term roots for wings is not something I came up with but got from a blog I discovered yesterday. It just so happens to fit the events that are occurring in our lives.

To read up on a delightful woman I have come to know, who is rooted beautifully in her home but also has wings that carry her from one inspired creation to another. Visit Margaret here.

Show and Tell

Earlier, something triggered the memory of being in elementary school and one of my teachers gave us an opportunity to bring something each week and tell our class about it. It  conjured up the thought of innocence of childhood in the fifties. Riding bikes, roller skating with metal skates, jacks, pick-up-sticks, jump rope, metal lunch pails, trading cards, Howdy Doody, the Mouseketeers, Lassie, Captain Kangaroo, The Little Rascals etc. Days have changed and there is the promotion of much that I feel children should not have to be exposed to at their young age. Not to say that there were not issues in family households and with the world back then…but still, my thoughts linger on my Roy Rogers and Dale Evans lunch pail, enclosed with a tuna sandwich and small bag of Fritos. Now, those were the days my friends.

Is the Grass Greener

I don’t know if it’s ants in my pants or what..but ever since I have been bitten by the world of blogging I have had a penchant to explore and set up a blog or two, only to find that it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. Much of the adventure, for me is in the design aspect and how I want it to appear to readers. So, once again I set out on a quest and now I invite you dear friends to visit me, where I thought perhaps the grass is greener. Of course I jest with you as WordPress has been a great experience and has opened the door for me to meet wonderful, inspirational and creative individuals..Yes, I mean you! I may have to make a decision on down the road..You will find me, Ramble Ann here. Eventually this will coincide with our plans for the days ahead.

This Made My Day

I really miss riding my bike. We are in a mountainous area and I would have to be what I am not to be able to ride up hill. When I was out today running errands, yes, I can be a runner of errands at times… I came across this little blue cutie.

I was so happy that I had my camera with me. I appreciate bicycle photo opportunities and I have so much fun with photo manipulation.

2013-07-022

I decided to drag my bike out of the shed. We are working on some changes once again and it is our desire to one day have my bike tied up to an RV and head north. I can visualize myself  riding on a scenic bicycle path…

The Human Heart

IMG_4598

We have new kitten neighbors. The mother is a feral cat and this is one of her kittens. I talked to this one over the fence because I wanted it to experience hearing a kind human voice. It sat long enough for me to get my camera. It sat and stared..My heart wants to feed all of them and yet I don’t want to become attached.  We recently have  had one of ours disappear after she got spooked and now her whereabouts are unknown. We still have three. It is survival of the fittest here in the mountains and I struggle with the thought of doing nothing.

Color Me Pink

I have been so excited about seeing a Hollyhock growing in our garden. I have had to be patient, as I had no idea what color was going to appear. Lo and behold it is Pink. One of my top favorite colors.

DSCN8783Pink represents to me purity and innocence. It reminds me of the softness of a newborns skin. Tiny fingers and tiny toes. The sweetness of a baby wrapped up in a soft flannel blanket and the smell of baby powder. Pink..fragile and delicate.

DSCN8808Clothe me today in Pink, may there be a sweet fragrance of humility and gentleness towards humanity, not harsh and demanding. Thank you.. Pink, for reminding me of what I want to be…

listening

Stop~Look~Listen

When this little girl was growing up, there was a family friend that called her, LOTTACHATTERWAGONTONGUE…

He would tease her about it when given the opportunity and it was all done in fun. I have not been one to talk a lot and I tend to gravitate towards listening.

Listening takes practice and I was not always good at it. A person can be quiet but not have the skill to listen. Everyday our world is loud. Decision making becomes hard due to other voices, clamor of noise and other influences. We may think we have all of the right answers to life’s problems right inside our brain. We are often persuaded by others  opinions… but I find that when I get still and quiet and shut out the clamor, that is when the answers come. Where that gut feeling feels peaceful and either I see red, to stop, or green, to go and maybe yellow for caution. It is all really very simple but can be made complicated if you don’t stop, look and listen.

Here is that young lady, my daughter. And she is not a chatterbox after all..

Letting Go

Today we let go…little by little. As I take a look at the stuff, it can almost be overwhelming. Downsizing is a lot of work but will be so freeing.

Memorial Day Duo2To find the air and the water exhilarating…to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring-these are some of the rewards of the simple life.

Independence Day

Today we celebrate our freedom and gratitude for those that give their lives to serve us, so that we can maintain what we have in our great nation. Not all is well and there are struggles but we can each do our part to be a mediator of peace.
