Mother Hen

Good evening! We are in final stages of getting housing situated and we continue to be busy unpacking. Right now I am working on books and seeing them once again is like seeing old friends. I am a bit attached to some and they are quickly filling up the bookcase. I am introducing you to my latest interest and please don’t ask me why “chicken’s.” I think it stems from the tiny one that I have had for years. To be honest, as I have mentioned before I love to see them run free looking for something to eat and who doesn’t love seeing baby chicks. So Sweet! I picked up these two recently. To me they both have an eclectic look that appeals to me. The hand painted one on the left is from Sweden. I have plenty of space in my kitchen to display my new collection and I think as long as I don’t start clucking I will be fine. I am taking this time to unwind and share Friday photo art..

A Little Gem

image(3)I am quickly learning about what’s what in our surrounding communities. On our way back home from Lowe’s in Eugene, we stopped in Coburg where we discovered a beautifully maintained antique store…

DSCN4251Janice Johnston, owner of the store gave me permission to take pictures. I kept my inner squeal to myself. (Big grin) Each of the rooms in this old historical house are color coordinated and organized.

image(25)I really appreciated the detail to pricing of the items. I was able to read them without my glasses. We have learned that in September, Coburg offers a huge Antique Fair. It was quite obvious to me that there is a lot of heart that goes into making Primrose Lane stand out like a gem in the small community of Coburg. I look forward to going back again.

I see signs of blue sky this morning and I marvel at the beauty of what I see. It has been a month now that we started our journey north. I give all thanks to my creator for the safety in travel and for those that we have come to know in this time. We are getting it together on the home front. Pulling out possessions and figuring out where to place them. Our front yard is being worked on and we got appliances yesterday, so we will be cooking with gas. We have eaten one really good homemade meal, cooked by a delightful woman, we have met and  allowed us to rent out a room in her home with our four cats. That was for a week and she never showed sign of stress or being bothered by our temporary residence. We have gotten acquainted with the young builder/businessman of the housing development. I very much admire his work ethics. He and sub-contractors put in very long days. So far I love seeing chickens that run freely, barns and bridges that will offer many photo opportunities. Even the fog adds a mysterious look and I enjoy taking it in. We look forward to the challenge of transforming the back yard. Images of Dogwood trees, Rhododendron’s, Maple trees, Peonies and more dance in my head. It’s a new chapter and each day a new page is written…and we will bloom where we’ve been planted.

Keeping Our Focus

Like these Llama’s we’ve kept our focus. Our belongings that traveled from Southern, California, to Portland and then to our place of residence, got here on Friday. We had it unloaded on Saturday. It was a remarkable feat, considering it took us a week to fill it up.. To top it off I am not on the floor typing..

Thank you, to those of you that offered words of encouragement along the way of our relocation. It was a really big deal for me, having lived most of my life in California. Just driving through California was a bit nerve-wracking, and now I can laugh at myself as I reminisce,on how tight I gripped the steering wheel, driving though the Los Angeles area. Stockton was another challenge for me too. This new lifestyle will offer me the ability to ride my bike, yay! We will have new sights to see and I look forward to getting back to the business of photography and writing, and spending quality time reading your posts and viewing your pictures. (:

Pack-Rat

This container that looks kind of small here will be delivered to us on Friday. My(our) everything is in it…We stuffed it to the brim and will have to unload it in two days.I really look forward to not having to sit on the floor to use our computer. Gas was plumbed in today for stove and it should get here next week. My stomach tells me it’s time for regular home cooked meals and vegetables.

Look At What I Found

imageI was so pleased to come across these cookbooks. Ellen, over at Happy Wonderer, is one of the contributing cooks for both of them . Because I am not up to copy and pasting using this iPad, please visit her, here at WordPress. She is quite the hostess with the mostest, with her warm and inviting personality.

Land of Carhartt’s and Subaru’s

imageWe have now been in Oregon for a week. Although we are not yet settled, we have seen some sights that have pricked our interests and look forward to getting established, and then explorIng some more. I have been using an iPad but I miss my computer and will have to wait a bit longer. I wish you all a New Year of Peace, Joy, and Wellness in every way. May it be a year of continued creativity and inspiration.
